Federal Tax Credit
on
Windows and Doors

American Window is proud to announce that we have window products that meet the requirements that allow you to qualifying for the Federal Tax Credit for window and door weatherization.

The new Stimulus Package or the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (AARA) of 2009 has established the qualifying level for windows and doors at a U-Factor of .30 or less, and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of .30 or less.

To qualify with an American window for federal tax credit, the residing homeowner must do the following:

- Purchase a qualifying American window. The American window must have a U-Factor of .30 or lower and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of .30 or lower.

- Make the purchase and install the qualifying windows and door products between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

- Achieve all other requirements specified in the ARRA 2009, Stimulus Package.

- Collect Sales receipts, NFRC, Energy Star and/or Manufacturers Certification labels or test result and maintain with all other tax information.

- Claim only the cost of the products as the federal tax credit does not apply to the installation cost of the products.  This will require that your contractor/dealer provide you with a product only invoice or receipt.

- Remember that the federal tax credit is for 30% of the product purchase only with a maximum credit of $1500.00 total for 2009 and 2010.

- Make sure you claim the tax credit for your purchase on your federal taxes for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax filing.

American Window and Glass cannot be held responsible for any consequences due to a sale on a non-qualifying product.  The following certification letter defines the products and necessary features that meet the requirements for the federal tax credit. We are certifying only these products and the associated features as qualifying products. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to ensure that they are purchasing a qualifying product. We suggest that the homeowner consult their tax advisors on all requirements regarding the federal tax credit and their qualification.
